Public Speaking
For the third term of our module subjects my form took part in the Public Speaking Module. At the end of the module we were to have an examination on a speech that we had prepared in class. The topic I chose for my speech was "9/11 Conspiracy Theories and The Unanswered Questions".
Prior to the exam I was quite nervous because I did not know what the examiner would be like and what type of questions she would ask me. However, once I was halfway though my intro, the nerves settled and I felt composed and comfortable.
The speech went went quite well in my opinion and I felt that I spoke well throughout the whole exam. I will take a lot of confidence from this module and I feel that I will be able to speak more confidently and fluidly.
Career Guidance
In the careers module we focused on the future and what we would all be interested in when we get out of school. This was very interesting to see what my fellow classmates were looking to do after school. It was also interesting to see what college courses are available to provide for people's interests. I, personally, would be leaning towards a business course. I have showed a keen interest in business from first year and I am very interested in the subject. All in all the careers module was a real eye opener into the real world and I took a lot from it.
Nutrition
In the nutrition module I learned a lot. I learned about the different types of drugs people playing sport might use to enhance and improve their performance e.g Beta Blockers, stimulants and diuretics. We also learned about dietary plans and how important it is to have all your required nutrients such as carbohydrates, vegetables, meats and fresh fruit. I really enjoyed this module and I took a lot from it.
Mindfulness
I very much enjoyed the mindfulness module. At the beginning of the module I was slightly apprehensive as to what this module would be like. The definition of mindfulness in its simplest form is " Mindfulness suggests that the mind is fully attending to what's happening, to what you're doing , and to the space you're moving through". I began to realise that if I wanted to know what mindfulness really was, I would have to try it for a while. Since it's hard to nail down in words, you must try it to fully understand the concept. I am very grateful to have taken part in this module.
